Growing apart…
Jessica and Elizabeth Wakefield feel special because they’re identical twins. For twelve years they’ve dressed alike, shared a room, and done everything together. But when they start Sweet Valley Middle School, everything begins to change.
Elizabeth wants to work on the class newspaper, but Jessica doesn’t. Jessica would rather join the Unicorns, a snobby all-girls club. Even though Elizabeth isn’t interested in the same things as her twin, she tries hard to tag along. But is she losing her very best friend?

Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield are the best dancers in their ballet class. Both girls want to dance the solo in the upcoming recital. Elizabeth hates to compete with here sister but Jessica doesn’t mind at all. She knows she’s a better dancer than her twin. The problem is their ballet teacher. Madame Andre never notices her. But she’s always praising Elizabeth.
Its not fair – and Jessica isn’t going to settle for second best just because her twin sister is the teacher’s pet.
Choosing sides…
Everyone at Sweet Valley Middle School has always said the Mercandy mansion is haunted. Strange lights flicker in the windows at night, and no one ever sees the owners come and go. So when Nora Mercandy moves into the run-down house, rumours spread fast. Jessica Wakefield and her friends are convinced that Nora is a witch.
But Elizabeth, Jessica’s twin, is certain that Nora is just an ordinary girl. She’s determined to stick up for her new friend. She’ll get to the bottom of the mystery of the Mercandy Mansion – even if it might mean losing her sister’s friendship!
Friends and Foes…
No matter what Elizabeth does, she can’t stop her best friend, Amy Sutton, from trying out for the Unicorn Club’s cheering squad. Elizabeth is sure that the Unicorns are going to steal Amy away from her. Then Elizabeth learns that Jessica and the rest of the squad don’t even want Amy. In fact, they’ll do anything to keep her off the squad!
What should Elizabeth do? Can she stand by and watch Amy get hurt? But if she fights at Amy’s side against the Unicorns, she’ll be taking a stand against her own twin sister!
